Within the UK scientific community there are changes being made to allow more diversity into the scientific community. The health company Wellcome wants to commit to taking down the barriers stopping both women and people of different ethnicity from achieving higher levels within the scientific community. With EDIS being launched they believe they can really take down the barriers and severely increase the diversity of both women and people of different ethnicity within fields like the bio-science field. I think this is an important step for the UK science community. With only 16% professional level females within the the bio-science field, this movement will allow more women a chance to reach higher in their field. If anything I think this type of movement should have been started earlier. Its 2017 and there are still barriers stopping people from reaching the top of their field. That just seems ridiculous to me.
